The eyeballs 
                                    of most birds are quite flat with large 
                                    retinas.  Birds of prey are different 
                                    in that their eyes are almost tubular and 
                                    so able to take in less territory than those 
                                    of other species, however they are able 
                                    to see greater distances and target prey 
                                    more accurately. This photograph of a King 
                                    Vulture shows the transparent third eyelid 
                                    present in all birds; its purpose is to 
                                    moisten and clean the cornea.
